    • What is bsafe?

bsafe was founded by Lucy McGill the sales and environmental director at a family run company Oil Pollution, Environmental Control Limited (OPEC). OPEC set out over 40 years ago to address oil pollution in the environment and continues to diversify through innovation and demand.

Taking the experience and knowledge gained in the environmental sector Lucy developed bsafe which is part of the OPEC range of products and services. Lucy knew that bsafe was a product for all and with her passion for learning and education she developed a platform where consumers can access science videos to aid their understanding and why switching to alcohol free sanitisers is so important.

    • How was bsafe formed?

In March 2020, we become aware from our customers and children as to just how harsh most hand sanitisers were on their skin, causing them to dry and crack. Working with our highly experienced chemists we created an alcohol free sanitiser that is kind on your skin and can be used by everyone, no matter the age, skin type or skin condition.

    • Where is bsafe produced?

bsafe is produced in our top-secret laboratory in North Yorkshire, United Kingdom. For over 30 years our chemists have been creating a range of different formulations.  So, you see we really are a very experienced team.

    • Why is being alcohol free significant?

Alcohol based sanitisers dry and crack your skin putting you at risk of further infection. Furthermore, alcohol based sanitisers offer little to no protection once the alcohol has evaporated from your hands and can be incredibly dangerous due to their flammable properties.

Being alcohol free means that our hand sanitiser won’t damage your skin and can be used by anyone. In addition, once our sanitiser is applied, it will continue to protect you from 99.99% of germs and viruses for 2+ hours.

    • Is bsafe cruelty free and vegan friendly?

Our range of sanitisers are completely cruelty-free meaning that no testing on animals is done on any of our products as this is something we feel very passionate about. Furthermore, all of our products are vegan friendly.

    • What are the ingredients in bsafe hand sanitiser?

The ingredients in our alcohol free sanitiser are the following: Aqua, Cocamide Oxide, Cocamide DEA, Glycerin, Didecyldimonium Chloride, Benzalkonium Chloride, PPG 2 Methyl Ether, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methyl Paraben, Propylparaben, Propylene Glycol, Aloe Barbadensis.

Benzalkonium chloride is the main ingredient from the ones listed above as it is what kills germs and viruses. It has been used for over 60 years in medical sanitation and has been approved as a biocide for use on humans’ hands.  It’s the low percentage in the formulation that makes is super safe but highly effective. This ingredient allows you to be protected for 2+ hours as it is substantive (it sticks), which means it provides continued disinfection effect after application.

Our alcohol free formula is child-friendly for children aged 3+, we use natural ingredients that are gentle enough for delicate skin.
